Almost 70% harvested and quality is good.
Harvesting is evolving under ideal weather conditions and it is estimated that by the weekend all over Greece it will have reached the 70%. Quality wise this season our crop is better from the previous one. We mostly produce CG HVI 31/high end 41 with staple length about 1 1/8’’ and as usual high strength. Bad thing is that the tendency for high and marginal mic on specific areas still exists.
Total lint production estimate is still at 270k tons out of which about 90-100k tons is already committed. This week demand has weakened but at the moment this doesn’t worry so much ginners, since they are focused on seed cotton deliveries, ginnings, classing lots, getting prepared for their shipments.
Regarding new sales Messologgi coop sold following a tender pre-rain qualities at 1,435 eur/kgs FOT to the domestic market. At the day of this business, this price was equivalent of 900 on Dec 17. Today there are offers in our market on fix price at min 76 usc/lb FOT, while for on call ginners are insisting on 800 on Dec 17 for the high end HVI 41 with good specs. All prices mentioned are net to the ginner.
